G'day, I’m David, the owner and operator of Great Southern Driver Training.

I'm not your average driving instructor – I try to do things a bit differently to help you or your child become a safer, smarter driver on our Aussie roads.

Too many people on our roads go into automatic pilot when they get behind the wheel, so I think it’s time for a change in driving education.

I focus on teaching the art of driving, going way beyond the basics needed to pass your test. You'll learn effective vehicle management, road etiquette, and defensive driving techniques. I'll show you how to handle your car in a way that saves fuel, reduces maintenance costs, and gives you and your passengers a smoother, more comfortable ride. Plus, we'll cover driving etiquette; how to interact courteously with other road users to keep everyone safe, the traffic flowing nicely and everyone on the road less stressed.

Living and working in Albany, I've also got you covered with specialised training for our unique conditions, like highway driving and mastering gravel roads.

For parents/guardians of budding drivers, I see teaching your child to drive as a partnership between you and me. With cost-of-living pressures biting hard these days, you deserve maximum value from your lessons. That's why I tailor my sessions to fit your needs, schedule, and budget. I actively encourage parents or guardians to ride-along in the car during lessons – that way, you can observe my teaching style and keep the momentum going when you take your learner out for practice drives. It ensures consistency every time they hit the road.
