Great Southern Driver Training (GSDT, ABN 82 287 084 233) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information. By using our services you consent to the way we handle your information as described below. We are a small business and voluntarily follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What personal information we collect

We only collect the information we need to provide safe, professional driving lessons and related services. This includes:

• Your name, phone number and email address (for bookings and contact)
• Licence or learner permit details (WA or international)
• Any medical conditions or fitness information you voluntarily disclose
• Photographs of students who pass their Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) or complete a course (only with your consent – see section 7)
• Dashcam footage from lessons (where our vehicle is fitted with a dashcam – see section 8)

3. How we collect it

We collect your information directly from you when you:

• Book a lesson online
• Attend a lesson and provide your permit/licence
• Disclose medical information for safety
• Consent to a success photo or request dashcam footage

4. Why we collect and use it

We use your information to:

• Book and deliver your driving lessons
• Comply with Department of Transport (DoT) requirements
• Contact you about bookings, changes or safety matters
• Celebrate your success (photos only with consent)
• Improve safety and training (dashcam footage)

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. 

We only share it when necessary:

• With the Department of Transport if required for licensing or PDA purposes
• As required by law enforcement
• With our website hosting and online booking provider, GoDaddy (on a secure, limited basis)
• With our insurer if needed for claims

6. Storage and security

Your information is stored securely in Australia where possible, or with reputable providers such as GoDaddy who have strong security measures in place. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss or unauthorised access.

7. Photographs of students

When a student passes their PDA or completes a course we sometimes like to take a quick celebratory photo. These photos are only ever posted on our website or social media with your explicit consent. For students under 18 we will always obtain consent from a parent or guardian before taking or posting any photo. You (or your parent/guardian) can withdraw consent at any time and we will remove the photo immediately.

8. Dashcam footage

Some of our training vehicles are fitted with dashcams that record lessons for safety and training purposes only. Footage is securely stored on the device for a short period only and is available upon request to the student (or parent/guardian of a student under 18). Just ask your instructor or contact us and we’ll provide a copy where available.

9. Accessing, correcting or complaining

You can ask to see, update or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us. If you have a complaint about how we’ve handled your privacy, please let us know first – we’ll work with you to fix it quickly. If you’re not happy with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The current version is always on our website.
